MLP_FiM_MTG - Derpy Hooves by pegasusBrohoof MLP_FiM_MTG - Derpy Hooves by pegasusBrohoof
UPDATE 11/10/11 - Final numbering.
UPDATE 7/9/11 - Fixed typo, changed wording.

UPDATE 7/8/11 - MUST SEE TO BELIEVE. ALSO HI-RES VERSION!

I consulted a lot of people on this, and apparently "you" refers to whomever activates the ability.

Derpy in the hizouse?

Art source needed.

Go for it. 21/21 flying hexproof and lifelink is nothing to sneeze at.

I've made some changes after a test run... Changed two Royal Throne Rooms for Two Canterlot; removed the red part of the mana (Mountains, sweet Apple Acres and AJ as well The Stare) and added more green/white creatures (Angel and Octavia) and also two more Elements (Loyalty) to increase the times Celestia places her three pegasus tokens.

Derpy Hooves serves as a wall and helps to diminish the effect of Canterlot and Everfree Forest.

Opal with the Gala dress is useful to get rid of small annoying creatures. Until Rarity and Fluttershy come along to increase the ammount of attacking creatures. Once it comes I attack with a horde of Tokens (Pegasus and Parasprites) leaded by Derpy. With Everfree granting Trample and Cosmic Conflict boosting my creature's powers.

Creatures / Planewalkers x 18

Derpy Hooves x 3
Princess Celestia x 2
Fluttershy x 2
Rarity x 2
Zekora x 2
Sweetie Belle x 3
Opalescence x 2
Applejack x 2

Enchantments/Instants/Sorceries/Equipments x 22

Final Confrontation x 2
Cosmic Conflict x 2
Poison Joke x 4
Gala Dress x 2
Pinkiecopter x 2
The Stare x 2
Element of Kindness x2
Vengeance of the Sun x 4
Celestial Shrine x 2

Lands x 20

Plains x 4
Forest x3
Mountains x 3
Royal Throne Room x 4
Everfree Forest x 2
Canterlot x 2
Sweet Apple Acres x 2

The idea is to create as many Parasprite and Pegasus tokens to protect and then attack with an overwhelming force, hence the three Depry Hooves and the Four Canterlot as they create the tokens. Poison Joke and Vegeance of the Sun takes care of annoying creatures as Zekora speeds ups the mana production and stalls the creatures as well.

Sweetie Belle and oplaescence are in there to protect and give time until the big ponies come to the field.

Fluttershy is there to gain life as Rarity also helps stall the opponent. So at the end if anything else goes as well, The stare handes me over the rival's creatures and then launche the final offensive.

Nice Job!

There are a couple more cards straggling in this set that could be useful, and I have 10 or so for Set 2.

I'm going to post a request for 'Starter' Decks on my profile after all the cards are posted.

I'd like it if you'd consider contributing.

Sure, once you get the whole 100 cards

I'll print this one later this week and make a test against a real Magic deck.

I don't get the connection to parasprites and growing huge. Is this based on a fanfic?

Seeing as Derpy's mostly a novelty character, the abilities are most likely fun little Equestrian elements, more than actual references.

Not really. I only had 3 tokens made up, and Parasprites made the most sense.

It should be noted that the last ability simply states "counters", not "muffin counters". Go go 10 +1/+1 counters for a 21/21 Derpy :)
Sure it's easier to go with muffins, but there's probably some tricks to get the count to 10 sooner.

WHY DOES EVERYONE'S DERPY ALWAYS HAVE MUFFIN COUNTERS.

That is the question I pose to you.

This card.

This card, bro.

This card.

Me and five other guys discussed how this would work for an hour.

I never told them that it was an MLP card. :p

Also, what other counter could one put on Derpy anyway? Mail counters?

Oh, and the tokens were going to be muffin tokens, but that would be way too confusing.

Why does it need counters at all? My own Derpy doesn't use any form of counters, but still makes sense as a Derpy.

Course, that would require an entirely different design direction. Just seems like every Derpy card I see has something to do with muffin counters.

Well, I have only seen one other one, and that was a Yu-Gi-Oh! one. :p

About why it needs counters, I don't know. I just really like cards with counters on them.

The only other idea I had was for the card to be called Ditzy Doo and you would put derp counters on her, and the 11/11 would be called Derpy.

Could be a flip card. Ditzy Doo flips into Derpy.

I like counters too, but the problem with having too many is that it adds a whole lot of clutter to a board. One possible way to get rid of the counters here is to just have the last ability count the number of Parasprites you control.

How random and awesome. I assume the last ability should read 10 counters or more? Also, for the second ability, does the controller get the benefit or the player who added the counter?

Me and some other people consulted the rules, and "you" refers to whomever played the ability by paying the cost.

So whoever wants life and tokens can get them.

Wouldn't it be better worded though, as, say:
2: Put a muffin counter on Derpy Hooves. Gain 1 life and put a 0/1 Parasprite token with flying onto the battlefield. Any player may play this ability.

After 10 counters though, the ability should stop working. So your opponents can't abuse it.

If you already have the awesome creature activated, they won't hesitate to pay 8 for blockers and life.

Then you can add, "This ability can only be played if Derpy Hooves has fewer than 10 muffin counters". Also, the way it is now, it can be at 10 counters and then they proliferate it to 11 and it reverts to the 1/1.
